BEER

BREWERY(ブルワリー)

Beer is a drink that brings a smile to everyone

“Beer is a drink that brings a smile to everyone” is the concept our brewery is built on. We aim to be a brewery that brings happiness to everyone who drinks our products, collaborates with us, follows us, supports us, and of course to our brewers and staff, too.
Whether it’s good times, happy times, hard times, or sad times, here in Hiroshima, with a beer in hand, everyone smiles.

A brewery always by your side, where everyone is smiling and making fond memories - that is Hiroshima Neighborly Brewing.
Hiroshima Neighborly Brewing is located inside the Hondori Shopping Arcade just a short way from the Motoyasu Bridge to the east of The Peace Memorial Park, the symbol of Hiroshima.
In addition to the brewery the building also boasts a restaurant featuring skewer-style cuisine and a hotel, making it a place where you can eat, drink, and stay the night!
Our hope is that everyone, whether from Hiroshima, or elsewhere in Japan, or from across the world, can gather here and share their smiles together.

Karl Warsop

Originally from North Carolina, USA. Karl first came to Hiroshima as an exchange student and fell in love with the city. While teaching English here he spent his free time enjoying American and Japanese beers, and also found himself impressed with Japan’s positive and social drinking culture. He then spent two and half years working at Wakayama’s Nagisa Beer and learning about brewing. Having returned to Hiroshima and working at the craft beer bars Golden Garden and Raku Beer, his next step is becoming the head brewer of HNB and begin brewing in earnest.

Being motivated to hone his skills, improve his knowledge, and learn more about making tasty brews before HNB opens, he travelled to Tottori prefecture’s Daisen G Beer (whose weizen has previously been crowned best in the world) and Tochigi prefecture’s Ushitora Brewery (who employs amazing creativity to their brewing,) and both breweries kindly allowed him to train with them.

Karl loves sweets, and is especially fond of anko (sweet red-bean paste) based snacks.
